Restore Rodney East is a community driven initiative, aimed at supporting local conservation-based groups and projects to achieve their respective missions and goals.
Over the last decade there has been a growing national and local awareness of the impacts of invasive species and human development on our precious and unique ecosystems of Aotearoa New Zealand. Rodney East has nationally one of the highest densities of groups working towards achieving pest free status and on the list of issues above – our initiative is bringing the many projects closer together in order to be more collaborative, consistent and effective.
Join us a Gibbs Farm an expansive, open-air sculpture park located in the beautiful Kaipara Harbour, North of Auckland. Wander at your own pace across manicured fields to view the giant sculptures. They are larger than life, some towering above you like skyscrapers in a rural setting.
The park boasts a series of major site-specific commissions. It is the greatest collection of large-scale, outdoor sculptures in the country, with works by some of the world’s most renowned artists.
Make your way there by personal vehicle, bring your own picnic lunch, and drink for the day. The park is a 3-to-4-hour walking experience, you can stay on the formed farm tracks or cut across the fields or stop and sit for a while spending your time to enjoy the views. We recommend you come in comfortable walking shoes, all weather gear and be sure to bring a hat, sunblock, and water. Rain or Shine be prepared. Gibbs Farm is a private property open by appointment only on scheduled monthly visitor days as per website: http://bookings.gibbsfarm.org.nz/reservations/.
All tickets are ‘Non-transferable’ and Non-refundable.
There are large lakes and ponds that will require supervision with children (if applicable), as will encounters with various animals at several locations on the property.
