About the event
Spring is just around the corner, and with it comes kiwi breeding season. As kiwi begin nesting and raising chicks, they become even more vulnerable to roaming dogs. A single dog can cause devastating impacts, making responsible dog ownership one of the most important ways we can help protect these iconic birds.
If you live, work, or enjoy walking your dog in the Rodney or Kaipara regions where kiwi are present, Kiwi Avoidance Training (KAT) with The Forest Bridge Trust is a simple and effective way to reduce the risk of your dog harming kiwi.
During a quick 10-minute session, our experienced trainer uses a specialised e-collar to safely teach your dog to recognise and avoid kiwi scent. The training is suitable for most dogs and provides an extra layer of protection for our native wildlife.
Please remember: Kiwi Avoidance Training is a valuable tool, but it is not foolproof.…
