Puhoi Vision & Action – Riverside Planting Day

The Puhoi Vision & Action – Riverside Planting Day is a celebration of new beginnings — bringing people and place together to build resilience for the future. Following the removal of invasive arundo grass, this once-neglected riverside is being transformed into a space the community can be proud of again, restoring natural beauty and creating a welcoming entrance for all who live in and visit Puhoi.

Held in the spirit of Matariki, this is a chance for the community to come together, get hands-on with planting, and embody kaitiakitanga — caring for our whenua and waterways so they can thrive for generations to come. More than a planting day, it’s a moment of connection, renewal, and shared purpose.
