With fantastic weather setting the scene, this year’s Warkworth A&P Show was the perfect backdrop for connection, collaboration and celebration of community-led environmental action.

A standout feature of the day was the vibrant environmental hub, where an incredible collective of groups came together to showcase the depth and diversity of volunteer-led mahi happening across our region. Holding a large, shared space, the hub created a real sense of presence—bold, welcoming, and impossible to miss.

Representing this collective were:

New Zealand Seabird Trust, Mahurangi Waste Busters, FOAM (Friends of Awa Matakanakana), Restore Rodney East (RRE), Takatu Landcare, Tamahunga Trappers, The Forest Bridge Trust, TOSSI + Trailer, Pest Free Mahurangi East, Kaipara Moana Remediation (KMR), Forest & Bird, Pest Free Warkworth, Whangateau Catchment Collective, and Mountains to Sea Conservation Trust

The displays were interactive, engaging and full of life, inviting people of all ages to stop, learn, and get involved. From hands-on activities to passionate conversations, it was an opportunity not just to inform, but to inspire.

More than anything, the day provided a valuable opportunity to network with like-minded individuals—strengthening relationships between groups, sparking new ideas, and reinforcing the power of working together. The collective energy was tangible, with volunteers proudly showcasing their work and supporting one another throughout the day.

What stood out most were the shared values on display:

Collaboration over competition

Community-led action

Knowledge sharing and support

Passion for protecting our natural environment

Creating inclusive, welcoming spaces for all

This collective approach is what makes our region so special. By standing side by side, these groups demonstrated that together, we are far stronger and more impactful.

With the success of this year’s shared space, plans are already underway to go even bigger next year—expanding the community footprint, deepening engagement, and continuing to build a powerful, connected environmental presence at the show.

A heartfelt thank you to the Rodney Local Board for sponsoring the space and making this collective presence possible. Your support enables community groups to come together, connect, and amplify the impact of their work.

And finally, thank you to every volunteer, group, and visitor who made the day what it was. The momentum is building—and it’s something truly worth being part of.
