Whangateau Harbour Care

Whangateau Harbour Care is a Rodney based community conservation group whose aim is to protect and enhance the local marine environment.

Whangateau Harbour has advanced an initiative to develop a Korowai Kahurangi which includes the whole of Omaha Bay from Cape Rodney to Takatu and all the catchment areas feeding into the Bay.

The group undertake planting and trapping, including Estuary and Horseshoe Islands, and coordinated cockle counts in Whangateau Harbour.

Other active groups in this area include Whangateau and Point Wells Resident and Ratepayers groups.
