A New Home for Restore Rodney East

Restore Rodney East Inc. (RRE) is excited to share a major milestone in our journey — we have officially secured a new home for our shared tools and resources library through a Right to Occupy agreement with Watercare Services Limited.

This is a significant step forward for RRE and the many community groups, volunteers, schools, and restoration projects we support across Rodney East.

For some time now, we have been operating out of a shipping container. While it has served us well, the reality is we have long since outgrown the space. As restoration efforts across our region continue to grow, so too has the demand for shared tools, equipment, resources, and logistical support.

This new site gives us the room and stability needed to better support our environmental network into the future.

Importantly, from Friday 22nd, community groups will be able to access and borrow shared resources directly from the new location. This will improve accessibility, organisation, and the overall ability for groups to get the equipment they need, when they need it.

Another huge benefit is that the RRE Community Trailer will now be stored onsite, dry and protected from the weather. Having secure undercover storage for the trailer and equipment is an important improvement that will help extend the life of these shared community resources and ensure they remain ready for use across planting days, restoration projects, working bees, events, and community activities.

This outcome has not happened overnight. It has involved persistence, problem-solving, exploring different pathways, and continuing conversations to find a solution that works not just for today, but for the future of community-led environmental restoration in Rodney East.

As we head into another busy planting season, this new base provides an exciting foundation for the next chapter of RRE — strengthening collaboration, improving resource sharing, and supporting the incredible work being carried out by environmental groups across our region.

We appreciate everyone’s patience during this transition and look forward to continuing to support restoration efforts across Rodney East from our new home.
