We’re delighted to share some great news — Restore Rodney East has a second gazebo coming soon!

Our original loan gazebo has become one of RRE’s most well-used and well-travelled resources. Over the past few years, it has been out and about across Rodney East supporting everything from community planting days and volunteer appreciation events, to shellfish and marine monitoring workshops, pest management initiatives, school engagement activities, and much more.

Wherever volunteers are restoring waterways, planting natives, trapping predators, sharing knowledge, or celebrating collective impact — you’ll often find the RRE gazebo providing shelter, visibility, and a welcoming hub for connection.

Due to growing demand from community groups, it became clear that one gazebo was no longer enough. Many of our groups are running events simultaneously, particularly during the busy planting and trapping seasons. Having two gazebos available will ensure we can continue supporting multiple initiatives at once — without anyone missing out.

This may seem like a small piece of equipment, but it plays a big role. It helps create a professional, recognisable presence at events, provides protection from sun and rain, and most importantly, supports the incredible volunteers who give their time to restore and protect our local environment.

A huge thank you to Auckland Council for funding this additional gazebo. Your support strengthens the practical backbone of our volunteer network and helps ensure our environmental groups have the tools they need to thrive.

If your group has an upcoming event and would like to borrow an RRE gazebo, please get in touch.

Together, we continue building a resilient, connected, and thriving Rodney East. 🌱
